ECHHO's Travis Award Goes to Chester Prudhomme

ECHHO's Board of Directors gave the Bruce and Jeanette Travis Award for 2014 to Chester Prudhomme at the Board's meeting on Thursday, December 11, 2014. The Travis award has been offered annually for the past three years to a volunteer who exemplifies the spirit of service that defines ECHHO.

ECHHO has engaged more than 300 volunteers from the community in its seventeen year history and at present has about 65 active drivers and office volunteers. Chester joined ECHHO in August of 2006 and made his first volunteer drive on 8/31/2006; a 6 mile drive for an errand. Hank Hazen, ECHHO's Board chairman noted that "it was not his last trip." Since 2006, Chester has booked 420 volunteer services ranging from driving to helping monitor the safety of ECHHO care receivers. Hank mentioned that Chester has driven 27,670 miles and given over 3800 hours of his time in service to ECHHO and the community over the years - and there will be more this month. In accepting the award, Chester noted that he likes to drive and he enjoys talking with the people he meets through ECHHO.

ECHHO will serve more than 1,000 area residents this year providing transportation, doing errands and chores and loaning durable medical equipment to neighbors throughout East Jefferson County.

Thank you Chester and all of the volunteers who serve the needs of our community with such kindness and generosity! You are all greatly appreciated!

And A Happy New Year!2015 New Year Image

A Holiday Greeting from Former ECHHO Volunteer and
Office Manager Linda Cooley

. . . Working with different groups over here in Seattle it has become more and more clear to me what a wonderful organization ECHHO really is. I am associated with one group here who offers rides to appointments, etc. but you have to join - I think membership fee is $125/year. As far as medical equipment lending I have seen nothing to compare to ECHHO. There are a few pieces here and there at senior centers but its very much hit and miss.

. . . I am thankful for having met you all and had time working with you.

Merry Christmas and a great new year to all.

Linda
